In recent years Rio Vista has witnessed a renaissance in our downtown. Creative ideas have resulted in businesses ranging from Ben's Friends of the Vine to Rio Hot Yoga. These entrepreneurs capitalized on a changing demographic. They recognized that while most goods can be purchased online, a sense of community can only happen through human interaction.
While these businesses know what they need to run a successful establishment, they rarely have the background to wade through bureaucracy, seemingly endless guidelines and fees. Rio Vista Downtown Association strives to simplify the process. Our vision is to provide resources and a simple process for starting and maintaining a business in town.
We will be the advocacy group, with you, that paves the way for commonsense ordinances and policies to ensure a business-friendly environment:
- Will an occupancy tax have unintended consequences?
- Will better lighting on Main Street draw people?
- Will lifting parking restrictions help businesses?
- Will “parklets” encourage more foot traffic?
- Will grants encourage property improvements?
- Will new spaces be available for lease or purchase?
These are the questions and potential solutions that we will address.
